Kermanshah has ancient roots dating back to the pre-Islamic era. The city’s name is thought to be derived from “Kerman” and “shah,” meaning “king’s land.” It is believed Kermanshah was founded during the Sassanid Empire, around the 4th century. Kermanshah has a rich history dating from the Sassanid Empire to the modern era. The most important historical attraction in Kermanshah is the UNESCO heritage of the Behistun Inscription. Tagh Bostan is the second-important attraction in Kermanshah. Kermanshah has its own souvenirs, such as rise and date cookies (not too sweet but too nice) and traditional kind of shoe. Kermanshah was also a part of Silkway.
